Hand tattoos are for the truly dedicated collector, and any reputable tattooer won’t tattoo your hands unless they’re sure that it won’t ruin your life (because while tattoos are slowly becoming more accepted in the workplace, many people still frown upon them, especially ones in such an obvious place).

Side note: There was a great article floating around the internet recently, outlining why employers should consider hiring people with body modifications. Some of the reasons stated were that more boldly tattooed folk tend to be creative thinkers, and more capable of making big or difficult decisions. Unfortunately, this blogger was unable to find the link to share with you.
