If owls are symbolic of wisdom, we wonder, will Jayski become wiser with each owl tattoo he does? And are we bad people if we figure out a way to turn this into a scientific experiment? Stay tuned..

Work from Natan: Phoenix.. Completed!

Ahh, the sweet, sweet feeling of completion. This tattoo by Natan has been ongoing, but now we can finally and proudly show off the finished product. And because we know you want to learn a little more about the phoenix mythology..

The phoenix is said to have a 500 to 1000 year life-cycle, near the end of which it builds itself a nest of twigs that then ignites; both nest and bird burn and are reduced to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix or phoenix egg arises, reborn anew to live again. The new phoenix is destined to live as long as its old self. In some stories, the new phoenix embalms the ashes of its old self in an egg made of myrrh and deposits it in the Egyptian city of Heliopolis (which means “sun city” in Greek).

Jay has been a busy man, traveling to conventions, making plans to attend more conventions, and arriving at work to find his station full of chairs (does anyone else sense a prank war brewing?), but he’s been churning out some great tattoos. Here’s a little bit of what he’s been up do lately.

As always, Jay can be reached here at Lightwave, so call 781.233.1780 or stop on by to set up an appointment. He’ll also be at the Massachusetts Tattoo & Arts Festival in Sturbridge, March 30th through April 1st AND he has some spots open there, so if you want to get in give us a call.

After that, he’ll be in Chicago April 13th-15th, and then Tijuana the last week of May. Hopefully he’ll come back from that last one.

Hand tattoos are for the truly dedicated collector, and any reputable tattooer won’t tattoo your hands unless they’re sure that it won’t ruin your life (because while tattoos are slowly becoming more accepted in the workplace, many people still frown upon them, especially ones in such an obvious place).

Side note: There was a great article floating around the internet recently, outlining why employers should consider hiring people with body modifications. Some of the reasons stated were that more boldly tattooed folk tend to be creative thinkers, and more capable of making big or difficult decisions. Unfortunately, this blogger was unable to find the link to share with you.

But back to the point of this post! Jay sure made this fellow’s hands look nice, didn’t he? Go ahead and stare for a bit, we won’t mind. Click the photo to see the larger image. You’ll want to.

Nobody likes New England in early January. Fortunately for Natan and Jay, they’ll be hopping on a plane and soaking up some hot Miami sun, while the rest of us up north glare outside at what will presumably be freezing temperatures and snow.

This is great news for Floridians, or even anyone who is seeking an excuse for a vacation. Because the two troublemakers will be tattooing at Tattoolapalooza, and if you want to get tattooed by either of these talented fellows at the convention, they have openings. It will be a really cool event, so definitely take advantage of the opportunity if you can! It’s happening January 6-8 at the Hyatt Regency in Miama, FL – check out info below for booking with our guys. As usual, they’re in high demand so the sooner you get in touch, the better!

New Work by Natan

Hello internet, did you miss us? It’s been a while since we’ve been able to blog over here at Lightwave, but we’ve hired a few monkeys with keyboards, so we’re now back in blogging business! Natan continues to be the busiest of busy men, creating epic tattoos both at Lightwave and at our sister shop Witch City Ink. Here’s a little bit of what he’s been up to lately. We’ve also added a few pics to his portfolio page as well.

First is an eagle on an extremely tough guy’s ribcage/side. He sat for hours without complaint, and then was kind enough to pay Natan a visit so he could take photos after the tattoo had healed a bit.

Second is a portrait of a lovely young lady, done on her father. Now that’s parental pride right there. She didn’t know this was being done, and we wish we could be there to witness her reaction!

Natan has had a streak of black and grey pieces lately, but this next portrait is proof that his color skills are not getting rusty.

Summer may be over, but things aren’t slowing down for us and Natan’s Thursdays and Fridays are booked until November. If a tattoo by him is on your wishlist for the end of the year, be sure to give us a call soon! 781.233.1780
